Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Samaj , Bhuj , as an institution was established in the late sixties. Its main activity in the initial years consisted of settlement of marital disputes of its community members. In the mid-seventies, with the involvement of the youth wing, Shree Kutchi Leva Patel Yuvak Sangh, educational, sports and cultural activities were carried on on a small scale. But due to illiteracy and low level of education amongst the masses, there was not much involvement of the major section of the community in Samaj activities.
Shri Kutchi Leva Patel Education & Medical Trust runs two Schools, one for the boys and the other for the Girls offering both secondary and higher secondary education. Both these Schools are residential only. The girls’ residential school was established 12 years back and has made a remarkable progress both in academics and sports. It’s one of the top schools in entire Kutch District. Its current strength is around 1300 students. On the other hand the boys school came up 2 years back and has strength of around 700 students.
The Nutan Sankul of the Samaj, situated on Bhuj-Mundra Road at a distance of about 1 Km. From the Jubilee Ground encompasses an area of about 15 acres and it houses boys’ hostel buildings, boys’ school, community and cultural hall, administrative complex, sports ground and hospital complex. It is proposed to increase the strength of the boys’ hostel and boys’ school to more than 1200 students by the end of 2002. Hospital facilities shall also be expanded step by step to include other departments. A three day grand function is to be organised between 30th December, 2000 and 1st January, 2001 to inaugurate the hospital and felicitate the donors and philanthropists who have helped transform the dream into reality.
